How I contributed to my planning process:

The final piece of coursework took many hours to prepare. I had to put alot of extra research for into it and a gave a great contribution to the final peice becuase of this research.

I extended my research by listening to two local radio stations. The first one was a radio station called Capital FM. I chose the london location to study. The other radio station was Yorkshire Coast Radio. I chose the Bridlington location to study. These two radio stations would allow me to seek the conventions of local radio that i found on their shows and hopefully allow me to be able to write aabout them and present them in a suitable way. By being able to notice these conventions, we were able to use some of them in our final piece. We also used some aspects of local radio in a preliminary task.

The peliminary had to be completed before the final piece. We needed this to give a general idea of what would be featured in the final piece. Also it allows us to demonstrate the the conventions we sutdied and demonstrate our technical abilities on the radio. My part in this was to write a rough script for the main speakers to follow when recording. I also contirbuted in key ideas for the editing of the tasks for example where to put jingles and sound effects.

My other job was to write the weather part for the third speaker in our radio station. This means I had to listen to some weather broadcasts and many different radio stations. I prepared a short script for the third speaker and I had ideas of a quick and speady radio report with prehaps some added sound effects of rain to give a sense that the weather reader was really broadcasting the weather outside. Some of these ideas made it into the final but not into the preliminary. My other main task was to prepare a short interview clip. I was being interviewed and had to write a short reply to the question asked to me. Feauturing this short clip would be our example of advertising what was to come later on in the show (like we had found in our local radio station research). This was used in the preliminary task.

Overall I contributed alot to this research. By giving the speakers a structure to follow we were able to complete the final task alot faster and with more detail to make it sound professional.
